Russian Railways sees all-time record cargo turnover in 2018

MOSCOW, Aug 3 (PRIME) -- Russian Railways plans to set an all-time cargo turnover record in 2018, the company said in a statement on Friday quoting CEO Oleg Belozyorov.

“We have hit record figures in handling cargo trains over the past weeks. This means that we have reserves, we have to develop and move forward,” he said as cited by the company.

“We have already exceeded the cargo turnover of 1988 by 2.5%. This year we are to set an absolute record that we have ever had with our railroad network.”

In 2017, the cargo turnover of Russian Railways increased 6.4% on the year to 2.491 trillion tonne-kilometers.
